IUCLID 5 – An Overview

IUCLID 5
stands for International Uniform Chemical Information Database. It is the central tool for registering substances according to the REACH regulation and other legal regulations worldwide.

IUCLID 5 is a software solution that is used by the industry, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), and the EU authorities of the EU member states. IUCLID is available via the website http://www.iuclid.eu.

The database is used for statutory and voluntary substance check programs in the EU, the U.S.A. and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The 5th version of IUCLID is available. It is adapted to meet the requirements of REACH and will be managed by the European Chemicals Agency. This system supports REACH and also provides a globally harmonized data format that is used by the regulatory authorities and industry.
For the industry IUCLD 5 is the platform for saving information about chemical substances, creating dossiers and submitting them to the regulatory authorities. For the Chemical Agency and the authorities of the member states IUCLID 5 is the central database for the submitted dossiers and provides a basis for assessing, mitigating and managing the risks of new substances.
