TechniData CLP Implementation Package helps comply with CLP Regulation

November 06, 2009
With the notification deadline fast approaching companies need to increase the pace of adopting the Classsifcation, Labeling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. TechniData CLP Implementation Package helps companies accelerate this process and ensure that changes are done reliably and efficiently. This package is based on TechniData’s experience in helping many companies achieve compliance with CLP since it came into force in the European Union in January 2009 . The package includes a set of practical tools and best practices to generate new and adapt existing labels and safety data sheets to meet the new requirements. In addition, the TechniData CLP Implementation Package supports companies in notifying the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) of those substances affected by CLP in time for the deadline in December 2010.
The TechniData CLP implementation package is based on companies’ existing SAP EHS Management infrastructure. The requisite GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals) data is integrated automatically into the installed classification and labeling solutions. The regulatory data encompasses all the requirements of CLP Regulation, Annex VI Table 3.1, and the integrated phrase catalog provides hazard statements, precautionary statements and header phrases. All the phrases are available in 40 languages.

The rules included in the implementation package support GHS classification and labeling in line with the requirements of CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. Additionally, R phrases are converted into GHS classifications according the CLP Regulation, Annex VII. The rules also support the identification of hazardous ingredients and components with OELs (Occupational Exposure Limits), which must be listed in sections 3 and 8 of the safety data sheet. The TechniData CLP implementation package also includes the TechniData WWI (Word Windows Integration) template required for the automatic production of EU-compliant safety data sheets.
