News DetailsTechniData acquires regulations database of Royal Haskoning December 21, 2009 On January 1, 2010, TechniData will assume all rights to the EaSI-Pro substance database of its long-term partner Royal Haskoning. TechniData will integrate the substance-related regulatory content into its own content package, TechniData CLEO. Existing EaSI-Pro customers will continue to receive a full service. This acquisition is a further step in TechniData’s long-term portfolio strategy. Previously, the company took over the Swiss content service provider CED at the end of 2008. TechniData intends to further expand its leading position on the global market for product safety solutions by offering a fully comprehensive range of consulting, specialist know-how, software, implementation, content and services.
Since legal requirements pertaining to chemicals are becoming ever more stringent in all leading economic regions, the substance-specific provision of regulatory information is also growing in importance. To safeguard the marketability of substances and products, EaSI-Pro processes data from more than 200 regulations and over 50 countries in relation to more than 300,000 substances. This information comprises chemical names and properties in addition to regulatory data on the listed substances. Product safety experts use this content to identify the regulations that apply in their target markets in order to create the required documentation. These documents may, for example, relate to the European Union’s REACH directive or the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). Expanding product safety know-how“ By integrating EaSI-Pro, we will be able to meet new requirements even faster and offer customers a more flexible portfolio,” states Jürgen Schwab, CEO of TechniData AG, explaining the business benefits of the acquisition. “We are gaining greater freedom to develop our portfolio independently and move quickly into new markets,” he adds. Growing the portfolio of substance-specific regulatory data is part of the company’s strategy to comprehensively expand its expertise and business operations in the field of product safety. TechniData is also boosting its expert know-how in personnel terms. Over the past year, the company has taken on numerous product safety specialists in Germany, Bulgaria and the U.S. in a whole range of industries. TechniData is also intensifying its links with external partners and customers. Jürgen Schwab sets out the background to the expansion: “By expanding our portfolio, we are responding to the ever growing demand for product safety services. What’s more, the current economic situation is prompting many companies to review their process and cost structures. Our end-to-end portfolio puts us in a position to help them meet their product safety requirements and significantly reduce associated costs. To ensure our customers can do this around the world, we will also continue to grow our resources in the U.S. and in the Asia-Pacific region.” |
