Press Release DetailsTechniData supports Markdorf aid project in Transylvania December 08, 2009 Christmas donation going to Romanian children’s hospital in Baraolt / TechniData continues commitment For a sixth consecutive year, the beneficiary of TechniData AG’s Christmas donation campaign is Bürgerhilfsgemeinschaft Jakab. Today (Tuesday), the aid organization’s Chairwoman Irma Jakab was presented with a check for 2,300 euros at TechniData in Markdorf. The donation will be used to continue the organization’s long-standing aid project at the children’s hospital in the Romanian town of Baraolt. It will pay the annual salary of a pediatric nurse at the hospital and half that of a skilled care worker at the Simonffy Foundation’s welfare center in Baraolt.
Baraolt is located in a region of Transylvania with a weak infrastructure. The local hospital has a catchment area of 25,000 people and the children’s ward has 40 beds. Two doctors, three pediatric nurses and two nursing assistants working in two shifts look after 30 to 40 children while also taking care of the sick children in the hospital’s outpatient department. The welfare center is wholly financed by the aid organization’s donations and members. Long-term support makes for reliable planning On receiving the donation, Irma Jakab expressed her sincere thanks for the company’s ongoing support of the Romanian children’s hospital. “Thanks to your continued and sustained support, we can really plan ahead and use our projects to offer the people in Baraolt long-term prospects for the future. Your donations help us to secure jobs and make sure that many needy, sick and elderly people, and the many defenseless children in particular, receive a better and acceptable level of care and assistance. Your generosity will help countless children and people in need, give them hope and bring a little happiness to their lives,” she said. As in previous years, TechniData’s commitment will not be restricted to the management team. At the Christmas party on December 11, employees and their families will once again be invited to make their own personal donations to the aid project in Transylvania. Last year, this raised a total of 1,314 euros. Irma Jakab explained how the money would be used. “Your donation will enable us to pay the wages of a pediatric nurse filling in for an existing nurse during her eight-month absence due to sickness and maternity leave. This will ensure the ongoing optimum care of the sick children on the children’s ward at the hospital,” she said. TechniData America donates to the WWF This year, TechniData America, the U.S. subsidiary of TechniData AG, is once again giving a donation to the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).
